May 20, 2021 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Athletic United FC as its newest expansion club ahead of the Fall Season.

Based in Silver Spring, MD, Athletic United FC will begin UPSL play in the Northeast Conference Beltway Division.

Carlos Rodriguez and Elioth Lopez are Co-Owners of Athletic United FC. The team will compete exclusively in the UPSL.

UPSL Northeast Conference Manager Paul Konneh said, "Athletic United FC is a club with a lot of experience and now the team's players are looking to achieve more by joining the UPSL. They are very welcome members of the Beltway Division, which continues to get bigger and better every season. We look forward to Athletic United FC as new members ahead to the Fall Season."

Giselle Moreira is the President of Athletic United FC. Lesly Ayala is the General Manager. Miguel San Juan serves as the Head Coach.

"We have chosen to take part of UPSL as it's one of the most well-known leagues around the United States, and also one of the most competitive leagues. We also like the league's structure and the professionalism of the league's administration," Lopez said. "Ultimately, our decision to join the UPSL for the 2021 season was made from the experience our players, and we know that our staff and team has the experience to be able to compete in the UPSL. We are excited be a member and compete in one of the best leagues in North America."

Athletic United FC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
